I want to be rich….no, that’s not it–I’m already rich. So are you–no matter how much you own or earn, you are still in the top 5% of the planet and you know it. Want to talk about a financial crisis? How about the 50%+ of the planet who are sorting out cooking fire fuel, clean water and food for their 1 meal today? THAT is a financial crisis…

Let me start over- I want to be FREE–that’s it. That’s what I want, and so do you.

Timothy Ferriss’s book The 4-Hour Work Week is not about working less per se. It’s about freedom and hyper-productivity, leverage and leisure, results over activity. I loved this book. I haven’t gotten so much out of one book in a long time. Couple of headlines:

  • Killing the time-killers:  how to duck wasteful people, skip out on pointless meetings, dodge useless reporting and still get your company to love you
  • The New Rich (NR) are driven by the relation of time to money, not time for money. Tim discusses how to break the inefficient exchange
  • Companies motivate Parkinson’s Law:  work fills the time allotted. How to work less hours and get more done–an old promise, but he really delivers on it
  • Modern employment slavery is a choice you can stop making at any moment

Three things I’m doing with what I learned:

  1. Hiring 2 VA’s (virtual assistants), people out of India to handle stuff I don’t want to do but need to get done
  2. Moving our company to 4-day workweeks.  Just the exercise of answering “how” will make us more productive
  3. Learning to drive a motorcycle.  (You will have to read the book to understand why)

This book is great for business owner, employee or consultant alike. Embrace and enjoy!
